I don’t see any leaks–how can I know whether I need a new roof?

  • Dust off your flashlight and climb into the attic (we wouldn’t suggest wearing your Sunday best). Do you see any cracks of light coming through or water streaks in the woodboards?
  • Check when your roof was last replaced. A typical asphalt shingle roof lasts about 20-25 years.
  • Check your gutters–are they spilling out shingle granules? That’s a key indicator your roof is near the end of its shelf life.
  • Check your shingles–are they cracked or damaged? They should be lying flat against the surface and tightly against one another.
